Reporting Guidelines

At Checkpoint Watch, our real-time transit alerts rely on accurate, timely information provided by our community across Auckland & Waikato. To ensure our network remains a reliable and responsible utility for thousands of daily Kiwi commuters, we ask all users to follow these official reporting guidelines.

CRITICAL SAFETY FIRST

- Never use your phone while operating a motor vehicle. Your safety and the safety of others on the road is our absolute priority. If you see a traffic incident, congestion, or compliance checkpoint, you must:

-Pull over safely to the side of the road before submitting a report.

-Use a hands-free passenger to submit the update for you.

or wait until you have come to a complete stop to send in your report.

What to report and how to report it

We accept real-time updates regarding the following road events Auckland & Waikato.

Traffic Incidents & Hazards: Serious accidents, vehicle breakdowns blocking lanes, sudden road obstacles, or extreme weather hazards (like heavy fog or flooding).

Major Congestion: Unexpected gridlock, creeping traffic delays, or severe bottlenecks on state highways and main regional arterials.

Road Safety & Enforcement Zones: Active transport compliance checkpoints, mobile speed safety camera setups (including SUVs and trailers), and roadside testing areas.

How to Submit a Report

When sending in a report through our website form, please include as much specific detail as possible to help the community precisely.

The Exact Location: State highway numbers, road names, nearest intersections, or major landmarks, Gas station, Retail businesses and so on.

Direction of Travel: Let us know if the event is heading Northbound, Southbound, Eastbound, or Westbound.

Current Impact: Is the lane completely blocked? Is traffic backed up heavily, or is it just starting to slow down? Is the checkpoint just breath testing or doing License and WOF checks?

All this info helps our community know how long they may be delayed for and gives them the option to take an alternative route.

Our Vetting Process

To protect the integrity of the Checkpoint Watch network and stop the spread of false information, all incoming reports are completely private and are not published directly to this website.

Every single submission goes through a verification process by our team. Once validated, verified alerts are broadcasted immediately directly to our premium WhatsApp subscribers and then on our official Facebook page.
